Oh, I'm not making any accusations directed at any specific individuals or groups. I'm just doing what I would assume that many law enforcement and federal officials are doing - looking at the date to see what sorts of historic events coincide with the date, since many terrorists and "lone wolf types" tend to put great stock in anniversary dates.

I would try to guess based on the significance of killing innocent Americans. Completely innocent people were targetted, but they were in Aurora Colorado and Sandy Hook. It could be some looney-tune type which is possible because a terrorist group would want to be given credit for it by now.

As much of a waste as it is to speculate, I'd go along with you. Some wack job that should have been locked up in an asylum years ago. Same as Sandy Hook, Aurora and others.

I would agree with your post. I know many are blaming right wingers, but they usually attack some significant government or religious target. Islamic terrorists usually take credit quickly. Kind of makes me think some lone nut.
Local guy, either first-generation would-be jihadi son of Mideast parents, or right wingnut. Someone who either doesn't care about being caught or is too dumb to realize how that finish line and that time are the most photographed in history.
Maybe it was some runner who didn't qualify for the marathon and was really miffed.
