Most of what they're asking for is based on lies and background checks already exist in many of the areas they cite in talking points. Besides, if this had passed when the next high profile shooting occurs they'll want to pass more laws. We can't give any ground because they'll always keep coming back for more.
We currently have a bomb incident that did not involve guns.
Gun restrictions/bans will not make the bad guys turn good or go away.
You are still left with the original problem that you seem to not want to admit.
We've got a bombing and the media is blaming the bomber(s).
We get the Sandy Hook shooting and the media blames guns.
If we take a real look at gun violence. dont we find its criminals with the stolen guns not regular citizins who are responsible for these crimes. criminals are not supposed to have them any way so why is our government trying to disarm us. what is there hidden agenda??? So we cant protect ourself but I bet all the people fighting to pass the laws have access or guns. Dident Hitler disarm the puplic befor he turned on them.....

All this law was designed to do was expand background checks to cover most (but not all) person-to-person gun sales. To PREVENT crooks from getting guns.
As to taking a "real" look at gun violence, now that the CDC is free to conduct research, we'll get a clearer picture. I too am curious as to what percentage of gun violence results from a "criminal" using a "stolen" gun, as opposed to how much is committed by a person in lawful possession, accidentally discharging his weapon, acting on alcoholic or passion-driven impulse and shooting a loved one or acquaintance, resolving a situation that might have been settled without death or GBI, except for the presence of a gun... Or simply choosing to shoot himself...

Something I agree with. Obama and all democrats are a disgrace. Man gets all worked up about taking our rights away but doesn't show any emotion when a terrorist attack goes off two days ago. Yes very shameful indeed.
Yes there will always be some that will find a way around the law, do we really want to make it easier.
Well then explain to me why almost half the guns used in crimes in NY City come from outside the state, would it be better if NY City just removed all restrictions
actually it would be better if NYC and NY removed all restrictions. then at least the citizens there could protect themselves from the criminals.
This Repub rejection of the American people pretty much dictates what the Obama team focus will be .... 2014. He knows his legacy depends on Sen and House Dem influence. Senate should be OK and added Dems in House can allow for things to get done. Add to that, big Dem gains in State legislatures.... setback??
Obozo couldn't get what he wanted even with majorities in both chambers early in his presidency. Why would that change now if he were to get that back again?
