For those of us that don't put a lot of credence into polls....how are we supposed to provide you other figures? Take a poll?? LOL!
By those words you admit that your claim about the 85-90% being a lie is based on nothing but personal opinion. You don't agree with it, so you declare it a lie. How convenient.
To all those who villainize the NRA just remember that they are representing the rights of their members. Who are the majority!
Anyone who appreciates the fight that they are taking on in our interests should do as I am doing this morning and write them a generous check to continue the fight and to tell the gun grabbers to su*k it.
That is my impression as well. There were a separate proposals for "assault" weapons ban and high-cap magazines, and they were rejected as expected, but the expanded background checks was expected to pass, because of the 85-90% support by the citizens.
I suspect it was the NY registration and "we're coming for your guns with door-to-door confiscation" as well as the AWB that linked the issue and solidified the base.
As to why the 90% figure can fly in the face of rejecting this law, here's another explanation (think doughnuts)
You mean the dems also waived the middle finger at the people, I thought that could never happen?
No, I actually meant what I said, and I said nothing about either political party. I simply said there were separate proposals all of which were rejected.

Then they failed to comprehend the proposals. What a surprise. AWB ban was a separate proposal, and I agree that one deserved to be rejected.

I (as well as the many who flooded the phone lines) consider the two linked, because folks like FineSwine and Janet Reno were the NRA's best spokespeople for the slippery slope argument.
Take a look at Dr. Munger's explanation on why the NRA is so powerful and influential. It goes far beyond the myopic and intellectually lazy argument of gun manufacturing lobbyists.

Reid distanced himself from this issue.
He should have rejected Feinstein's amendment totally.
Several prominent Dems voted NO.
There was more on the table then just "expanded background checks".
If that were the ONLY item voted on then it just might have passed.
But that was pretty much the only item the press and the President kept talking about over and over.

No, 1000 people does not represent all of America.

A lie? Did I say it was a lie?
A lie is a deliberate untruth.
I am saying it is not dependable or reliable and have offered rationale for that opinion.

The question is generalized and had little to do with the legislation that was proposed. All the rejection proved was that people calling their representatives were smarter than the LCD in the country that would've swallowed the "all that's in the law is UBC"
