This actually stinks of behind closed door NRA money shuffling. 95% of the public supports expanded background checks. That means pro 2nd amendment people as well as those who hate guns altogether are in favor of something that is just plain common sense. The Senate actually threw their middle finger in the air to the people and failed to do the will of the people. You can try to hide behind the guise of "freedom," but the moment some mentally disabled person or criminal who just happens to obtain a gun legally in another state takes that weapon and uses it for malice, you all will once again be crying about how they could have gotten that gun to begin with. With rights come responsibility. Our rights are not sacrosanct as people want to believe.

Well Mr. Bloomberg, if the bill were ONLY about expanded background checks then it might have passed.
But it wasn't and members of the Senate didn't roll over like they usually do.

Now you're getting it. At least, you have to span it out further to bypass the average American attention span.

So if that were true then why was there so much more in that bill/amendments ?

Why is Feinstein publicly lamenting her BAN didn't get passed ?

That would have had a better chance of passing.

Maybe Congress doesn't understand the KISS principal ?
I keep saying that I cannot thank FineSwine enough for going full retard on her never ending question to disarm America. I can only hope her career continues another 10-20 years and that she is at least as vocal as she is now. She is the NRA's best advocate. She also brings out only the finest bats**t crazy folks from DailyKos and DU.

So you supported Proposition 8's passage due to majority rules, correct?

Agreed. But this bill did not get defeated for the right reasons. The vote should have been defeated because the senate tried to ram a bill thru congress, which affects our 2nd Amendment right, without allowing the people time enough to read and debate the bill.

The way it should work, is write a bill, give the American people plenty of time to read the bill, like a month or more. Let us digest it, debate it amongst ourselves, let us communicate withour representatives in government, and then open debates on C-SPAN so the people can witness and comment on the deliberations of congress. Enough of the secret, closed door meetings of eight, followed by the mach-speed-run to the president's desk for signature.
