Not Newtown, I live in Arizona so Newtown wasn't shocking to me. Newtown just enforced the idea that I'd like to trade our socialist coverage for gun ownership out for a socialist healthcare system so that the crazy shooters might be able to afford mental health coverage as to avoid the carnage.

The amount of people who died in Newtown happens daily from gun violence in America. Every day. It's been adding up for years. It's so ironic to here a gun owner hate on social health care whilst I'm paying for his gun ownership casualty as he spews such ignorance. And I see you seem very happy the socialist mindset works in the gun owners favor.

Next time I purchase a car, I'll just tell sherif Joe to put my registration, license background checks, and auto insurance on your tab as a pay back. We will see how that flies. I have a feeling I'll just get a pair of pink undies and a leg chain.
So what crime did I commit that you were forced to pay for? Maybe you should blame those committing crimes and not the 80+ million gun owners who do not

Exactly, seems the "shall not infringe" is specifically targeted. Pardon the pun.

Interesting on how any one who is for background checks gets labeled as a liberal.......are there some secret files
we don't know about.
Yes, it has to do with Newtown and all the other shootings before that. Newtown was the last straw. It's
not over. Those grieving parents are educated and determined to do something to stop this
senseless violence.

WOW, mad are we?

You must really be mad at all the people that are killed by Drs, cars, drown, wrong medicine, bats, and the numerous other things that kill far more people than guns....

You are a VERY misinformed person, or are not willing to really look at what is going on. Yes, I'll agree that those 12,000+ may raise your insurance a little, however, not nearly as much as the other things I have listed....

Maybe do a little research and find out why your insurance is going up....

Here, to help you out just a little....

Simple Facts and Plain Arguments: 6 Things That Kill More People Than Guns

Quote:
It's true: You are 64 times more likely to be killed by your doctor than by someone else wielding a gun. That's because 19,766 of the total 31,940 gun deaths in the USA (in the year 2011) were suicides. So the actual number of deaths from other people shooting you is only 12,174.

Learn more: Doctors kill 2,450% more Americans than all gun-related deaths combined
You register your car with Joe? WOW....who woulda thunk it?

Hey Einstein, this bill wouldn't have prevented that shooting. A cop or armed persons at schools would. Quit whining about a bill that wouldn't have any affect on gun crime, let alone the crime you're using as a prop. Enough with the idiocy

I'm still waiting for an answer to this question:

Current laws are not enforced for gun registration, how are more laws going to be enforced?

Please answer....someone....and not the ignorant answer of "well lets just abolish all laws then" crap answer....

This is the 3rd or 4th time I have posted this....no answer yet.....why is that?

Because the left are content with passing an idea. They don't care about implementation or excecution of that law, just the idea of that law.

This failed passage bothers me because it's indicative of the level of corruption amongst Congressmen and Senators. It was such an innocuous bill. I mean, it's already illegal for felons and the mentally unstable to obtain guns and the only way to enforce these laws is to require background checks to be performed 100% of the time. What part of that is disagreeable? It shows how "in the pocket" our legislators are of big lobbies, the NRA being one. The NRA actually has more sway over the ATF then our government does. It's crazy. It's also funny to see the guns-rights guys on here reciting The Constitution while ignoring the fact that our Founding Fathers would be appalled by the blatant wheeling and dealing our law-makers are involved in with big industries like gun-makers. It's as un-American as it gets.

I think there is more to it than that.

If it were truly ONLY about expanded checks than that should have been the only thing in the bill.
