This board is not a true reflection of what people think, because the board is monitored. Take a look at the unmonitored boards. There are thousands of comments which actually show that many people are indeed tired of having homosexuality shoved down their throat.
People living their lives does not = shoving it down your throat.

I would have no problem with the gay marriage supporters no longer shoving their agenda down everybody's throat - so I am in entire agreement with what you propose.
We shall have to see what the gay army says, however.

BSA currently has a "don't ask, don't tell policy." Under this policy, all boys are able to join, but they are not allowed to broadcast their sexual orientation for political expediency. BSA as an organization has the right to create their own policies. If gays do not like the policy, why not create your own organization for scouts, that foster your belief system? Why is it so important to force a private organization heavily funded by Christians to accept your particular version of "tolerance" and "equality."
Respect is a two way street. If for example, gays had formed their own boy scouts for their particular community and Christians went after those organizations, I would be in full agreement with you, but this isn't the case. Gays are the ones going after Christian oriented private organizations.
I'm left shaking my head, because the the last time I checked, there are far more pressing issues than whether a homosexual boy can openly declare that he is gay within BSA. Let's keep this in perspective. It's not like homosexuals are being denied the right to attend public school, this is BSA that we are talking about. And as I have already pointed out, any boy can join, as long as they adhere to the policies.
You must realize that the majority of Americans subscribe to a religion, whether you like it or not. Sure there are many atheists in this nation too, but they do not currently represent the majority. Just as you do not want to hear about religious values, most religious folks don't want to be inundated with the message that they should accept homosexuality as being equal to heterosexuality.
It's a two way street, so a serious collision is under way.
It's getting so boring and nobody is getting anywhere with it. There is so much more important things happening in this world for discussions and our own democracy is at stack. Let's face it, sexual preferences is between you and your God!!!

Then why start another thread on it. Geez, most of these threads about gay people are started by you people who just want to have a venue to pitch your fits on. Fortunately our country respects the freedoms of all of its citizens and not just you nuts.
Sometimes a group of people who deserve equal rights need to shove their so called agenda down the throats of people who treat them inferior. Women were treated as second class citizens until they had their voice heard.
They used to say "why can't those women just be satisfied with having babies and keeping a home, why do they need to vote. Let them have a say and all hell will break loose" . It was also said that why were black people not happy with the back of the bus, at least they were allowed on it. If people did not fight for what they think is right, then we ALL may as well give up and roll over. The freedoms in this country are for all and were fought for by all. Those freedoms are not contingent on ones sexual orientation, race, economic situation or religious affilliation. Christians are not the rulers of this country and all of its citizens. That was why we left Europe for the Americas, to escape religious persecution by a religious majority.
So gay people hate gay people? Makes sense to me...as long as they are hating each other that pretty much frees the rest of us from the unpleasant task of habitual persecution.
No, psychologically, they hate the gay person they do not want to be and hate gay people for their audacity to be out of the closet and proud of themselves. It threatens their self imposed straightness that they feel everyone can just change. So they have forced themselves to conform and be straight, even if it means forever living a lie. Their own self hate becomes self consuming and when that is not enough, they resort to attacks on gay people. They are truly the ones who indeed made a choice to be straight, so they think since they could, that all gay people should just buck up, tow the line, conform and pretend to be straight. Even if they in the long run hurt a few women, what matters is to obey their higher power. My older brother is one of those self imposed, made the choice to be straight gay haters that thinks that his visits to gay bars and bath houses is okay, just as long as he prays away the gay later. He may as well be self flagellating while saying his hail Mary's and god forgive me's.

From my perspective, it's not that heterosexuals hate gay people. What many strongly dislike is the notion that homosexuality is the equivalent (and should be encouraged and celebrated) on the same level as heterosexuality.
For a number of reasons, heterosexuality and homosexuality are not on equal footing. The most basic reason is, under no circumstances can any gay couple produce life together. In my view, this is the core reason why homosexuality will always have strong opposition (not even withstanding the morality argument).
I do not subscribe to the belief that homosexuality is genetic. To date, no such "gay gene" has been identified. Anyone can decide to be gay, straight or bisexual, whether you realize it or not. All that is required is for an individual to find a person of the same sex, or opposite sex for an intimate relationship. The fact is, we get to choose how we want to live. Let's not act as though it's not a choice, when your life is just that, your life. There's a lot of research on whether certain people have an "addictive gene" which makes them more prone to develop addictions. But no such addictive gene has been found, so it's safe to say that lifestyle choices are just that, -choices.
The only biologically based characteristics that I'm aware of are hair color, eye color, gender, skin color, height, body type, facial characteristics and predisposition to certain genetic disorders. Again, sexual orientation is not biologically based, NO research whatsoever proves that it is.
