Fair enough. The US has likely participated in cowardly acts as well.
Was dropping an atomic bomb on Hiroshima a cowardly act?

What about firebombing Dresden?

Because they are not actually confronting what or who they percieve as your foe and innocent people pay the price for indiscriminatory acts of violence. Not giving your target a chance to defend themselves. Why would you even have to ask this question?

Did these bombers really believe they wouldn't get caught and face justice? I don't think so. How could it be cowardly then? I mean, it was disgusting...but cowardly? I'm still not convinced.

Well, the father said they were planning on returning to Russia soon. So possibly they had no intention of getting caught.
