I have often said that it is intellectually irresponsible for people to automatically accuse the government of acts of terrorism and insinuating that every single act of terror is some sort of "false flag" event.

However, it is just as intellectually irresponsible for us to automatically absolve the government from any form of scrutiny for an official account of events. And in fact it's much more dangerous to do the latter

There is obviously a notion that our government is incapable of committing acts of terror against it's own citizens. But such an assumption in it of itself would enable such atrocities to take place in the first place.

One thing that separates our country from other countries is that we have a free press. However that free press, if it does not act like a free press does us no good.

The media has time after time shown that when an act of terror occurs that they will stand 100% behind the version of events that the government gives without any level of scrutiny.

If that wasn't bad enough, they go out of their way to demonize anyone who dares even ask fundamental questions and expresses any level of scrutiny for a version of events.

So with a government that will obviously stand by their official reports, and a media that will show it will do the same, should we the public do the same?

Again certainly it seems unwise to do so.

Now that doesn't mean we should be totally misanthropic towards the government and presume everything they say is a lie and that every event on earth is manufactures by people with evil intentions

But the opposite isn't healthy either and history has shown to be much more dangerous
