I've never liked the term enemy combatant because it dignifies their actions in the minds of millions of people who may consider their actions heroic. In the minds of millions of Afgans, Pakistanis, Yemenis, Iraqis and Iranians who have lost relatives, children, homes at the point of American made bombs, missiles, and gunfire or seen there welbeing degraded by thoughtless American sanctions . Two guys bringing a little of what unfortunately the norm in Baghdad, Kabul or Sana'a to the streets of Boston may have played very well in Northwest Frontier. Here is an example of how they might fight back.

Perhaps. However, he does represent that ideological mold. Jihadists are always looking for a new martyr. They can twist this into a wild propaganda campaign. However, his may not be the right brand of Islam for the Jihadists. Not all brands oc radical Islam get along. Some groups hate each other as much az they hate anyone.

Will Jihadists really find some pot smoking Americanized youth who's second first language was Russian, someone they can make a hero of ? Not likely. There is no real brand of Islam that can be marketed here. What you have is a young chump with a now dead brother who's only aspiration was to be a success in America - as a boxer. To live the good life- to have the money...some material and social status. These two so-called terrorists were not terrorists as we know terrorists to be - They were just terrible young guys who wanted some action that American society was not giving them...so they thought...It might have been the loss or the denial of the American dream that set them off- not 72 virgins.

I wonder how it would be if this guy was buried alive in a large box with several wild pigs and a microphone. His screams as the hogs ate him alive could then be broadcast world wide to all arab/Islamic countries that have been known to support terrorist. Tell them we plan to do this to them and all of their families if they do terror against us.... That should have them afraid to do anything for at least 200 years.

He is being charged with a federal crime - and as much as I oppose it - the federal statutes allow for a death penalty.

What bothers me is that many people will malign his defense attorney for defending him - when a vigorous defense is just what is neccesary to ensure that justice is done.

The attorney is just doing his/her job - they aren't supporting the man's actions - they are only ensuring that his rights are protected.

He will most likely be found guilty - and everyone should applaud the thankless job that his defense attorneys will have to maintain justice, fairness, and liberty.
