The sooner they can execute him the sooner the lawyers wanting to make a name for themselves will shut the hell up. He must be executed or the USA will lose respect from the entire world. ...
We already have - since 12 noon (ET) on 1/20/2009.
Will Jihadists really find some pot smoking Americanized youth who's second first language was Russian, someone they can make a hero of ? Not likely. There is no real brand of Islam that can be marketed here. What you have is a young chump with a now dead brother who's only aspiration was to be a success in America - as a boxer. To live the good life- to have the money...some material and social status. These two so-called terrorists were not terrorists as we know terrorists to be - They were just terrible young guys who wanted some action that American society was not giving them...so they thought...It might have been the loss or the denial of the American dream that set them off- not 72 virgins.
Haha, ok, I see your reasoning. As it sits, however, much is being made of these twos "radicalization". As I said before, their brand of Islam may not fit the bill for Al Queda et al, Chechnyans are a different sect. Not all radical, Islamic groups, hang out and hold hands. They are as likely to swing their AKs into action on each other, as they are on us.
So, at the core, we do not disagree. This kid is a punk, indeed, anx if were to be put into Gen Pop, in prison, I give him two weeks, tops, before he is used up and shanked.

Because some people think the constitution applies to some citizens more than others. Or people just need something to be outraged about. The same people whining about him being tried like any other US citizen would also be whining if he were facing a military trial.
He's also am American Citizen, therefore they can't charge him for being an enemy combatant. He will be tried in Federal Court, where they can apply the death penalty. Remember, Massachusetts has no death penalty.
Good to see that he his being tried in US courts. He may be a POS Islamic terrorist, but, unfortunately, he's still an American citizen. If we don't respect his rights as a citizen, who's rights are subject to being stripped next?
A much better question is why were he and his family let in the country in the first place? We don't need to let in everyone from a chithole just because they claim to be "refugees". We have enough problems of our own, and enough people of our own that need an opportunity. Unless they have specific skills our country needs, we need to close the valve on legal immigration, let alone our criminal alien problem.
Granted, I think our method of carrying out the execution in this case should involve a wood chipper and a slow winch.

Not sure if anyone pointed this out, but to be completely accurate, he's being tried in criminal court, as a civilian.
yes the op did say he's being tried in civilian court, not civil court, but there are 2 civilian courts, civil and criminal.
