Btw, who said it was Gordon Gekko, from the movie Wall Street, (the original)

The Editor: SOCEPP had earlier written an open letter to Bill Gates informing him that his praise for the butcher Meles Zenawi is an insult to the people of Ethiopia. However, the millionaire has gone on to heap praise on the tyrant and his regime. We, Ethiopians should write a protest letter to Gates and also start a petition to denounce his declarations. Greed is NOT good. With that said, striving to make more money is not a bad thing. It's the excess thats bad. Never having enough.

From a spiritual standpoint its bad because it would mean that human beings would essentially consume the planet or kill off each other.

Greed - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary

a selfish and excessive desire for more of something (as money) than is needed

If your greedy your never going to be satisfied.

It's better to know what your heart truly desires and then go after that.

Answer to your first question: Gordon Gecko.

Answer to your second question: It depends on what greed leads to. If it leads to complete disregard for the lives and rights of others, then no.

Rational greed is good, irrational greed is not.
The difference in the two is that a rational person understands that in order for themselves to thrive, others must thrive also. The irrational person does not understand this and wants to succeed at the demise of others.

The universal truth that few are able to admit is that everyone acts in their own best interest all the time. For some that means acting rationally, and for others it means acting irrationally, but in both cases, they both believe their actions will result in their own interests being served.

One cant become a billionaire without offering jobs and filling a demand.

But what your now admitting is that its not GOVERNMENT that creates jobs.. So why the hell do you pretend it is on every other thread?

The European middle ages was rife w/ lax regulation, lax labor laws, and greed out the wazoo. The only thing that came out of that was war, rebellion, and religion's stranglehold on "morality"
