Lefties are all about
"well if you have nothing to hide", then show your tax returns, let the police in your door, allow them to search x, government wants your guns, you should give it to them.

Lefties have no problem bending over

I don't think it's necessarily just lefties. I know a lot of Republicans with this attitude.

The problem is the left hates guns and the right hates rights.

The left hate guns, obviously
The right hates other civil right, gay marriage for example.

The government needs to get out of our gun rooms and bed rooms.

Marriage isnt a right, one needs to obtain a LICENSE, making it a priviledge. There are enough threads about such things around here that you should educate yourself..

Did you miss the equal protection part of the 14th amendment?

You're joking, right?

I firmly believe that you have the right to marry who you choose, screw who you choose, and do whatever else that does not infringe on my rights.

Just keep me totally out of the equation.

In other words, exercising your rights also includes taking responsibility for the results.

No doubt. But the articles written first indicate the the purpose of the 2nd amendment (written by the same people who wrote the articles) was to have a militia to protect the government, not the other way around.

Also, just because he gave in on that, doesn't mean they went around collecting weapons from citizens. Guns were in every single household back then, especially in the absence of an organized police force.
Yes, because at that point of time, they relied on individuals having guns so they could call them into action to stop an insurrection or an outside threat. The government doesn't do that anymore, so the 2nd amendment seems irrelevant to me.

The 2nd amendment wasn't written because everyone had an inalienable right to own a gun. It was a means to an end.
