Really? Don't you think every cop out there has broken the law, big or small, of some sort? Speeding? Running a red light? DUI? Smoking pot? Getting in a bar fight? Statutory rape?

If the guy had robbed a bank, but then felt bad later and returned the money....
....would the Santa Cruz Police Dept hire him as a law enforcement officer?

Illegal entry absolutely is a criminal offense, Title 8 US criminal code. Illegal presence is a civil offense.

Illegal entry into the US is a misdemeanor. Not a felony, like robbing a bank, etc.... Not all crimes are equal. Sheesh.
