William F. Buckley, Jr. once wrote or said, “I would rather be governed by the first 2000 people in the Manhattan phone book than the entire faculty of Harvard.” Considering the opinions of the majority of C-D posters, I wonder if the Harvard faculty would make a superior governing body?

Bill also said...Dont try to nominate the most conservative candidate, nominate the most conservative candidate that is capable of winning.
Republicans dont listen or care about William F. anymore. Like Bill, his party died long ago.
And we sit next to these types of people day in and day out at work and while engaging in other daily events. The things that many people will write on an anonymous forum that you'll never hear them say in real life. I'm willing to bet that I could be good friends in real life with several of the posters I despise on this board. I'm also sure that there are some posters who I agree with wholeheartedly on many issues here that would drive me batsh*t crazy if I had to sit next to at work all day long. It is what it is.

I agree. The internet gives one a nearly anonymous medium to spew nonsense. In reality, politics wouldn't be the only conversation point. Political ideology isn't the only thing that matters to me.
A few, I mean a very select few could actually govern well in the real world here but the unfortunate reality is that most people on here seem incapable of reasoning or compromising and this isn't limited to either party; I can propose limiting a semi-automatic weapons clip to 29 rather than 30 and my head will get bit off, I can propose reducing the amount of welfare by a dollar and my head will get bit off, see where I'm getting at? I love to compromise with people, I ask people on here various questions almost as in the manor of a referendum and some of the responses I recieve are reasonable while some are just out of this world.
A few of my threads where I attempt to compromise and understand where each party is coming from:

I think the idea of being governed by the majority of my fellow citizens, subject to the limitations set forth in our Constitution, is what I'd like to go by.
