intelligent enough to direct our anger? LOL, oh you mean direct your anger at the guy who made the video.

You really have to ask? Wasn't Obama's mantra "to fundamentally change America"? He's certainly done his level best to accomplish this.
Now if you are talking about lying to the public and congress? Not much difference at all except this president has done it more often than most/all others.

Well, I really wasn't going to comment on military service. But I'll post a start up to Vietnam time-frame as that was the question to me.

I did not go to Vietnam. Not really surprising given my background. My student deferment ended Sept 1969. I could have gone on to graduate school but was really tired of the academic life. So the choice for me was to be drafted or join the military. I chose the Army.

I enlisted in the fall of 1969 but somehow (total chaos about that time), my papers got screwed up, orders lost and so I didn't report for active duty until Jan 1970.

I took basic training at Ft Knox. But never took AIT as is customary. Before basic training actually starts, you are given various tests, both mental and physical. One of the tests is the well-known GT. It is sort of like the SAT. I scored 152 of 160 with a perfect score on the math portion. A few weeks into basic, AG (personnel) called me in to take another math test. Aced that as well. I graduated from college with a degree in math and physics. So the last week of basic I was offered whats called S&E (science and engineering) by the Army. Which I took.

After basic I was sent to Ft Meade until my security clearance went thru. Then on to Ft Myers. And then assigned to the Pentagon and later to a special Air Force research group. The research project went on for more than a year. About that time I decided that I'd like to continue on in the Army and so applied to OCS. I was accepted and started that in the summer of 1971. By the time I had finished that as well as follow on training (Signal Corps at Ft Gordon)), it was the spring of 1972.

In Mar 1972 the Vietnam drawdown had begun. The Army began pulling out troops big-time. And so, due to the timing I was never sent to Vietnam. I spent 3 years in Germany from 1972-1975 with the 72nd Signal Battalion. And then returned back to the US to Ft Gordon (home of the Signal Corps).

And that was just the start. Anyway, stayed 15 more years, retired as LTC.

It's amazing that idiots on city-data think they know more than the #2 person in charge in Libya at the time. Let's read the words of Greg Hicks, who became the highest ranking US official in Libya after the attacks:

Quote:
"I think everybody in the mission thought it was a terrorist attack from the beginning," Greg Hicks, a 22-year foreign service diplomat who was the highest-ranking U.S. official in Libya after the strike . . .

Chris's last report, if you want to say his final report - is, 'Greg, we are under attack.'

"...I've never been as embarrassed in my life, in my career, as on that day," Hicks continued in his interview with investigators. "The net impact of what has transpired is, [Rice,] the spokesperson of the most powerful country in the world, has basically said that the president of Libya is either a liar of doesn't know what he's talking about. ....My jaw hit the floor as I watched this."
He goes on to say that he called the State Dept and asked why the in world Rice said that on the Sunday talk shows- and the answer was "I don't know" in a way that implied he shouldn't be asking that question.

And that the reason it took the FBI more than a month to get into Benghazi is because Rice embarrassed the Libyan leader:

Quote:
The net impact of Rice's statements, Hicks said, was "immeasurable." On top of his personal belief that "the reason it took us so long to get the FBI to Benghazi is because of those Sunday talk shows," he said, Magariaf lost face "in front of not only his own people, but the world" at a time of democratic transition in his country.
They lied to the American people, let Americans needlessly die, and did immeasurable harm to our relationship with Libya in order to save face while campaigning. It's sad that people are defending this simply because Obama is a Dem.

Official: We knew Benghazi was a terrorist attack "from the get-go" - CBS News

No, I think your comparison (freudian slip?) actually said it all.
I'm guessing he'll be judged by history on par with Carter or a bit below when all is said and done.

It is astounding that the right-wingers are still flogging this in the desperate hope that they can somehow hurt the president with it. The fact that there was a different understanding of what was happening between people there and people thousands of miles away, is not a "scandal," it is a given.

Of course keyboard commandos who have never been closer to the action than a Clancy novel have never heard of the fog of war.

What lesson did you learn from these deaths? Were not these lives important to right-wingers? If so, where was the investigation into how/why they occurred and how to prevent them from happening again? Did I miss the hearings for such?

In 2002 when the US Consulate in the Karachi, Pakistan, was attacked and 10 were killed?
Or in 2004 when the US embassy in Uzbekistan was attacked and two were killed and another nine injured?
How about in 2004, when the US Consulate in Saudi Arabia was stormed and 8 lost their lives?
There is more: In 2006, armed men attacked the US Embassy in Syria and one was murdered.
Then in 2007 a grenade was thrown at the US Embassy in Athens.
In 2008, the US Embassy in Serbia was set on fire.
In 2008, bombings in the US Embassy in Yemen killed 10.
Many embassies attacked during the Bush years before Benghazi

On the basis that it was no issue when Bush was president!
