Anyone think that today the 2nd Amendment is outdated? Honestly, seems like it has more to do with militia needed in old days to fight for the country. Today, there is already the military, national guard, police, etc which replaced this militia long ago.

Seems like the right to bear arms just might out of touch with modern day USA.

It is fine the way it is, though I wish Congress had the balls to actually pass a better background check law, but that doesn't seem like it will happen any time soon.

I think it's more relevant today than it was 250 years ago.

Classic Government Bumbling
A government that secures rights by prosecuting deliberate injury is far different from a government that proscribes behavior that MIGHT cause injury.
The former can be evaluated and monitored as to its effectiveness. The latter cannot. Prior restraint cannot be evaluated as to how effective it was in preventing that which did not occur. Best of all, the cost for compliance is born by the people, not the government.
It's no surprise government would prefer to enact mountains of regulations than bother to enforce the laws already on the books regarding deliberate injury to person or property. Just look at actual prosecutions of violent criminals versus the crime rate. The government can appear to be "effective" when in reality, they're incompetent bumbling stooges - at our expense, no less.

Agreed.

People fear what they don't understand.
