That said, you could have given all 11 of the electoral votes from Indiana to McCain, and he still would have had his butt kicked. Obama beat him 365 to 173. And lets be honest--do you really think they couldn't have legitimately got 90 more signatures from Obama supporters from that district if they'd tried? That's the number of signatures they believe are fraudulent. This was about lazy campaign workers who didn't want to spend a day standing with a petition at a shopping mall, vs. not being able to get the votes. Obama got nearly 1,375,000 votes in Indiana, and won the state.

Fraud is bad, but the rest is whining.
Actually, this is about the primary ballot, not the general election ballot. Indiana didn't really figure in Obama winning the Democratic nomination. That said, these officials who faked signatures should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Why even implement voter ID laws when it won't work? There will always be fraud. So the Republicans should just drop this idea.

Just like the NRA said, gun control cannot fix murders therefore we shouldn't have any gun control law. RIGHT?

RIGHT???? RIGHt????

Here we go, lamely trying to put words in my mouth. Or maybe just a lack of reading comprehension.

Stretching a little bit aren't we?

1. Did I say anything about MILLIONS?

2. Did I say anything about Obama?

2. Has it NOT been claimed on here that voter fraud doesn't exist and the right is just making it up?

It looks like the system worked and this guy is going to jail for a while. So, how does one prevent this from happening?
Excuuuuuse me.

"So, how does one prevent this from happening?"

First by admitting that it DOES happen and not keep saying it doesn't.

Luckily this was just an aberration and we never had cheating before especially not in 2000.

This really is the bottom line. But you're interjecting logic and rational thinking into the situation, so don't expect the folks who are foaming at the mouth about Obama being elected fraudulently to actually comprehend what you've said.

Yet they ignore the unconstitutional coup d'etat in 2000 and the rigged machines in Ohio 2004. Guess it's ok if they win.

You fail to see the big picture. The next election there will be (R)'s who believe that fraud and cheating is acceptable because the (D)'s are certainly doing same. It's a vicious cycle that undermines the entire process.

The only correct response should be "they are scum and should be hanged for treason." But because you defend them you contribute to the perception that the end justifies the means. Somewhere in a basement an (R) programmer is working overtime to counter the cheating (D)'s.

Yeah, and?

Republican officials, who have used hysteria about alleged voter fraud as an excuse to support measures that disproportionately block Democratic voters, are furiously trying to distance themselves from a growing number of GOP voter registration drives that either submitted false applications or threw away authentic ones.
The incidents might have been overlooked if not for the GOP's clamorous campaign to restrict registration drives, purge voter rolls, roll back early voting, and pass voter ID laws that opponents point out have the effect of depressing the vote among minorities, the poor and other generally Democratic constituencies.
As one Southern California alt-weekly put it, it's turning into a story of "The Wolf Who Cried Wolf."
GOP Voter Fraud Accusations Suddenly Blowing Up In Their Faces

It turns out that the Republican Party’s obsession with voter fraud may be yet another case of projection. Four former staffers for resigned House Rep. Thaddeus McCotter have been charged with 36 counts of misdemeanor and felony election fraud. Yesterday one of those staffers, Lorianne O’Brady, pled not guilty to five misdemeanor counts of submitting fraudulent signatures on a ballot petition. O’Brady is the last of the four staffers to be arraigned; the other three, Don Yowchuang, Mary Melissa Turnbull, and Paul Seewald, were arraigned on similar charges on August 10th.
