Why?

1. Congressional leaders fear that being forced into the Obamacare exchanges will result in higher health care costs for themselves and their families and their aides.

2. They fear the impact on Capitol Hill employment.

Dems on Capitol Hill retreat from ObamaCare exemption; Update: Dems getting nervous about Obamacare?
The Hill reports this morning that not only are they no longer seeking an exemption, but that they never sought one in the first place. That effort is dead, at least for the moment.

“Shaming works,” but I’d caution that shame on Capitol Hill is a very temporary and curable affliction.

They had the opportunity to provide citizens with a healthcare system like theirs and refused. Let them live with the watered-down version that's apparently good enough for the hoi polloi.

They passed the bill, then found out they didn't like what was in it.

Not to mention it's twice the size it was when it passed.

Stupid, stupid people.

I've long advocated for rules requiring that any law passed by congress applies equally for both Congress and their constituents. The last time I checked both groups are US citizens.

More taxes on citizens? Congressmen pay the same taxes. Insider trading rules on business leaders? Insider trading rules on congressmen.
