Thomas Jefferson, moreso than Andrew Jackson(the actual original Democrat)has historically been claimed by Democrats as the father of their party. Given the party's longstanding support of federal control and more and more government, can Democrats still claim to be Jefferson's heirs?

If you're in the vicinity of Raleigh, N.C., you could go to the Jefferson-Jackson dinner tonight.

It depends on the Democrat but I personally don't expect any party to be ideologically consistent for 20 years let alone 200.

Jefferson was full of contradictions, and even hypocrisy, but there is no freakin way he would be at home in today's Democratic party.

Jefferson with have the most in common with far-right tea party Republicans like Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and Mike Lee. He would be regarded as a loon and nut job by mainstream democrats. He would be in for a lot of name-calling.

Jefferson was a francophile, rednecks who use phrases like "freedom fries" , own "France sucks" buttons, or ***** about foreign language have nothing in common with him.

A leading 19th century French economist was Frederic Bastiat, a tea party hero. Now there is Dominque Strass Kahn and Esther Duflo
Renowned French economist to join Obama

1800 France intelligentsia was a little different from 2013 France.

Fail.

I never mentioned the tea party, just rednecks who hate France and foreign languages, and automatically the tea party was the first thing that popped in your mind.

LOL

And you never responded to any of the Jefferson quotes either. Why? Because what Jefferson was saying 200 years ago is exactly what the tea party is saying today, and you have implicitly exposed that you think the tea party is composed of a bunch of boobs, rubes, and rednecks. LOL.
