Your solution is for everyone to get a gun so when this kid goes RAMBO, makes an error in judgement, or acts just a bat-**** crazy as he appears, they MIGHT be able to defend themselves. So instead of preventing Adam Lanza from having access to guns, you think the better solution is for EVERYONE to get one. I don't see it that way.

This kids needs a mental health exam and if he's determined to be mentally ill, or a risk, sorry, his gun gets taken away....

Even with Newtown, Connecticut remains one of the safest states in the country.
And, right after he gets his mental health exam, it is your turn to get a mental health exam. You are doing things that have us a little concerned. Where does it stop and who gets to make the judgemnet call on your, or his, mental health?

Sigh.

The OP judges the kid on CNN as "possibly mentally ill" solely on his appearance, equates him with mass murderer Adam Lanza who killed his own mother to get his guns, and then annouces I suggested ridiculous solutions I never suggested. Then concludes with, "Even with Newtown, Connecticut remains one of the safest states in the country."

I rest my case.

It could well be that certain people have enough mental problems that they should be denied the right to defend themselves, though I don't agree personally with that idea in the vast majority of cases.

But the people making those suggestions, need to realize that they themselves are stepping to the front of that particular line, far ahead of those they are complaining about.

Obviously at least one of the these boys, (or possibly thier mother?), is a socially awkward, possibly mentally ill, pre-teen or teen who carries a firearm in a way that is obviously disturbing his neighbors.

So tell me which one?

He is exercising his constutionally protected right.

No. Nobody has the right to "feel" anything. People have the right "to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures." Is he searching and seizing anyone's property?

Definitely. Anyone who has a problem with this person exercising his constutionally protected right is mentally unstable and should be locked away in a rubber room for the protection of society.

I see both sides of this one-- But I have to say, this is a somewhat crazy thing to do and evidences the types of mental health problems that should prevent people from being gun owners in the first place.

I also don't buy his claim that he's thwarted multiple attempted burglaries.

Your thoughts?
I agree, people who wet their panties merely at the sight of someone carrying a firearm are truly mentally disturbed and should seek professional help immediately. It is a common mental disorder among big government fascist liberals and conservatives, it is called Hoplophobia.

I bet any none LEO carrying a rifle would be disturbing to these neighbors.

You want to infringe on this guys rights to have him tested. Thats illegal. Hes done NOTHING WRONG!!!!

The solution is not to disarm law abiding citizens. If people want to get a gun to defend themselves, they can. Those who choose not to and want to rely on the 1-5 minute wait for a cop to come and for that cop to realize he cant approach because he will get killed, so be it. A lot of death can happen in a minute. A lot. But, not with the gun he has.

Speaking of error in judgement, COPS DID THIS!!

If you don't see a difference between this and and some 19 year old self-appointed armed neighborhood watch hero, I can't help you.

So we only judge people to be mentally ill after they kill someone.

Regarding Connecticut safety, that's not my conclusion. That's statistics. Sorry if the facts don't fit with your perceived and preferred narrative.

Again, let me know if you want 19 year olds whom you don't know carrying a rifle in front of the yard where your kids are playing. Please tell me, for consistency's sake, that would be ok with you.

And yes, people deemed mentally ill shouldn't own firearms. Do you disagree?
