What ruined pro sports was the day they allowed "commercial time-outs."
I used to love the NFL. But that was before it took them 4 hours to telecast 60 minutes of football. It's now unwatchable with the constant viagra, light beer and razor blade commercials.
Now, my autumn Sunday afternoons are free.
Football bores me. Believe me, it puts me in the minority in my Packer obsessed state. A game that takes 3 minutes to get thru 30 seconds on the clock is not my idea of fun. How can anyone stand it??
The day is coming when no one will care either way. There will be no podiums or rainbow flags. It will just be people's personal business.
Like this guy being put on the cover of SI. What a joke, he's done with his career and he was always mediocre at best. He would have never been put on SI for his basketball skills.
What a total joke, they are treating him like he's Jackie Robinson or something.
I don't understand why he felt the need to tell the world about his sexuality. If he wanted to share this information with people, Why didn't he just tell his family, friends and team mates? Why the need for the microphones and ESPN, CNN, MSNBC, FOX, ABC, CBS, etc cameras?
Because life is short and there is absolutely no reason not to be who you are while you are living.
Do you think it would be discriminatory against homosexual athletes, if the heterosexual players requested that they use separate shower facilities?
We are talking about people who have already showered/dressed in front of each other without incident. If there are any heterosexual teammates that are suddenly uncomfortable showering with them because they are gay, they are free to find their own separate shower facilities to use.
Most people won't care because they are not homophobic & realize that being gay does not make you a pervert.

No, but I don't think they should be forced to.
I have showered with both males and females. As long as everyone behaves like adults there is no problem.
Besides gay men don't want ALL men, lesbians don't want ALL women, just like hetero men don't want ALL women.
Everyone needs to get over it, and act like adults.

Thank you, you beat me to it, and I couldn't have said it better.
So you don't care about our feelings then, just your own? We should accept you in the shower?
Again, I think it's great that the guy is happy in his own skin as he said. Happy for him.
But don't expect everyone to be happy about it and straight players in the NBA may not like it at all and may not feel comfortable at all with him.
So who cares about their feelings?
It sure would be easier on everyone if he kept his private life private, unless he was being discriminated against by people's suspicions--THEN I feel they should tell the truth and be protected.
How about if YOU are uncomfortable YOU ask to use a separate shower. It doesn't bother all people.
