Is the point here to disparage Marxist Leninists in the 21st century using guilt by association? If the headline included that he was homosexual or black or some other minority, I would question the reason such an adjective is being used. It certainly isn't related to the crime. Such killing tendencies are not tied to any one ideology so why does the article mention it? In any case, I'm glad he's already doing life in prison.

Now if we learn that, say, Garrison Keillor or Jane Fonda killed 2,000 people, now that's news.
And I suppose the "capitalists" running the Mexican drug cartels who kill thousands each year are not news....
