Bush actually deserves more of the blame since he was the one that encouraged banks to abandon their standards and lure huge numbers of blacks and Hispanics into taking on home mortgages they had no hope of paying back.

Obama might dream of ramping up affirmative action to extreme degrees and otherwise arranging the economy to produce equal outcomes for non-Asian minorities but it just isn't within his power. America is not governed by the principles of the Trinity United Church of Christ. At least not yet.

Another reason why the unemployment rate is as high as it is now is a lot of big companies stop hiring. They want to keep there profits high as possible even if this mean not hiring anybody
