Just what we need - MORE OUTSOURCING. KILL THE BILL!!! Traitors to America like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg should be tried as traitors to the American economy!!!

"Companies like Microsoft often claim that America is suffering from an economically hobbling shortage of science, math, and computer talent. The solution, they argue, is to let employers fill their hiring gaps by importing tens of thousands of educated guest workers beyond what the law currently allows.

The Senate’s current immigration bill would grant their wish. As written, it vastly increases the annual limit on H-1B visas, which allow corporations to bring employees with a bachelor’s degree to the U.S. from overseas for up to six years. Roughly half the guest workers who currently arrive through the program come for computer-related jobs.

When Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced earlier this month that he was forming a political action group to back the reform effort, it was in part seen as a move to ensure that the H-1B provision would make it to President Obama’s desk intact.

There’s just one problem. That whole skills shortage? It’s a myth, as was amply illustrated (yet again) by a report this week from the Economic Policy Institute.

And therefore Republicans want a HOLD on it? Frankly, I don't know the exact effect on outsourcing. But I agree (for one of the FEW times in my life) that the egregious sloppiness of immigration under ALL administrations needs to be seriously addressed before we consider it "reformed". I want a screeching halt and some congressional investigation into what "asylum" has become. Over and over we've given "asylum" to criminals and terrorists. It is far too mechanical. ICE acts as though filling out papers can somehow protect the territory of the USA. Frankly, it reminds me of our ports where all sorts of stuff comes ashore that makes people, trees, and other parts of the environment sick. Why? We just can't STAND the idea of slowing trade even the tiniest bit. Let thousands of people die! Let forests be consumed by alien bugs. Just KEEP sucking in that STUFF. This is totally analogous to a guy who eats himself to death. He knows how his organs are deteriorating, but he's TERRIFIED of stopping! Suddenly his issues might come forward in the calm that follows. Domestic security is only part of this picture, but it is at issue right now, and giving hope to illegals is peripheral to me. Slam the doors SHUT if that's what it takes to prevent criminals and mentally defective terrorists arriving, going on public assistance, and then learning bombmaking on the Internet. Will it "harm our competitiveness". I DON'T GIVE A DAMN. That's just brainwashing. I care more about 8 year olds who die in bomb blasts.

Good.

Employers should hire the best people for the job. If it happens to be a non-American then so be it.

Why do people think they are owed a job by a company because of where they were born???

I agree. Let us import as many Mexicans as possible because companies want to pay less and less. Free market baby!

You are connecting unrelated topics. Outsourcing is when you hire another company to do work for you. H-1B visas have nothing to do with outsourcing.

And why shouldn't they increase the quota ? Do you notice our labor participation rate is sinking each month..less and less people need to work.

That's because more and more are on welfare.

Outsourcing an American job to someone you bring here is no different than outsourcing an American job to another country.
