you may not all feel me on the following but i'm down for this.
After reading your orig post and the replies, I not only don't feel you, but am not down for this.
I'm not trying to be hard...but if you have a point...feelings are not important. Facts are. Back your feelings up with facts....then the debate begins. It is much more interesting.
Judging by many of the posts in this thread, most people on here could care less about what the black community is doing. Trying to get support for issues like these on this board is pretty pointless. This seems to be more of a place for people who are outside of the African American community to at times discuss their negativity towards it. With that being said my opinion on "Black Friday" is for the African American Community and anyone else interested to use it as a day to go out of our way to support Black owned businesses. A CNN article on their website today posed an interesting fact on this:
Dr. Claud Anderson, president of the Harvest Institute, a Washington-based think devoted to black empowerment, applauds the idea of "group economics."
Asians, Arabs, Hispanics, Jews and whites in the United States generally spend money among themselves, "bouncing" dollars an average of six to 18 times before the money leaves the communities, he said.
"The black dollar does not bounce, not one time in America," Anderson said. "The only way to eradicate these problems in the black community is to help these people do what everyone else does."
I know that I'll probably get pegged as racist or get accussed of something else ridiculous for posting this, but oh well. Just thought I'd put in my 2 cents.

Ok I'll bite...but it looks to me like your confusing two different issues.....so the OP says not to spend any money at all on Nov 2nd and YOUR saying only to spend it at black owned businesses......
If ya'll can't even get the "protest" right how do you expect someone from "outside" the black community to support you.
Just for the record....I don't care...read that again....I don't care what the race/creed/religion the owner of the business is that has the product I want to spend my hard earned money on.
Please tell my why everything has to be about race.

I was just expressing my opinion on how Black Friday should go down. Basically I just felt like the boycott would be more benificial if modified. I believe many of the problems in the Black community stem from the economic hardships plaguing many of these communities. I feel like if those interested in the boycott focused on spending more money somewhere in the Black community tomorrow instead it would be more beneficial. Go to a Black owned restaurant, buy a book at a Black owned bookstore, etc…
Everything does not have to be about race. However, as a Black man who is concerned with the many problems facing the Black community, I am always going to go out of my way to do my part in improving things for us.
