Wrong as usual. The issue was whether a five-year-old should be allowed free and unfettered access to a gun. (To most of us, that isn't even an issue. But it's the subject of the thread.) See the OP.

Read.

Reading is key.

Of course a little kid will "love it." They will also love it if you let them chuck a live grenade over the fence or light a trashcan on fire.

Why not let your kid grow up and mature a bit more before letting them get into firearms handling? Is there some fear that if your kid isn't firing rounds of ammo RIGHT NOW before he's even in grade school, he will turn into some sort of a gay liberal by age ten?
The only fear I see here is your fear of an inanimate object.

Another way liberal losers try to change the subject after getting their heads handed to them in an argument, is by inventing new "issues" that haven't been brought up at all, as this one does here. I've underlined the relevant fib above.

I think the more appropriate thread question is whether or not such parents should have custody of children.

The fear of being hit by a very fast, deadly projectile (which you can't dodge in short range) is a legitimate fear.

A person is too young to handle a firearm when he has not learned to and shown the desire and ability to do so safely..........For some 6 years of age might be ok but for others 60 years of age is not long enough.

I gave my wife a firearm for our first Valentine's Day as a married couple and enrolled her in a personal safety course, a firearm safety course and a concealed carry course, (that we both took together). She said that it was the most loving gift she could imagine. I cared enough about her safety that I did all that for her.

Sigh... you're totally wrong. Here's you, and there's the point that just flew miles over your head.

The fear is not of the gun; the fear is of a pre-schooler having access to that gun for the sake said pre-schooler's safety.

Why do you people have an inability to distinguish between acceptable gun use for an adult and unacceptable gun use for a small kid with the maturity of a squirrel who hasn't even yet sat in a first-grade classroom?

The thing you should fear is the person that means harm. The person that pulls the trigger.

The firearm will not function without someone pulling the trigger.

Yes he wasn't forced to take the gun, he could have refused, after all his life experience should have made him aware of the dangers.
