We won the war with Iraq and took out Saddam and his military, who, right or wrong, we saw as a threat. Turning a 3rd world Islamic craphole into a peaceful, prosperous, first world democratic country isn't our job. We're the only country dumb enough to feel like we need to rebuild a defeated foe. We should have gotten out as soon as Saddam was captured.
In spite of that, it's amazing how quickly things have gone downhill over there since 2009.
We destroyed what stability they had in the name of "freedom". Iraq is worse off because of us and would have been significantly worse off if we just got Saddam and left.
Who cares anymore, let them rip each other to shreds. That's what they like doing and are good at it.
Spoken like true neocons, imagine if you guys had your way and we invaded N.K. Or iran. Just go in kill and leave the country a broken lawless mess.

No, it was Democrats like you who actually believe they had/have no WMD.....remember the Kurds? They weren't gassed with pepper srpay.....
Yes, I know Kurds that have escaped because of what Saddam did to them...I still don't think that is a good enough reason to invade a country, much like I don't think we should be invading Syria over what they have done to their own people.
The Iraq war = 2 Trillion taxpayer dollars spent to bring chaos and despair to millions of Iraqi children.
Mission accomplished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
New report outlines deteriorating situation for Iraqi children a decade after Bush's 'Mission Accomplished' speech.
It was 10 years ago today that George W. Bush stood in front of a banner proclaiming Mission Accomplished in Iraq.
Yet the country today is "one of the world's most neglected crises," where statistics of daily violence, death and insecurity
Between December 3rd 2012 and April 23rd 2013, more than 1,236 Iraqi civilians have been killed, averaging 9 deaths per day. (The report also notes that this figure is likely a low estimate.)
An estimated 692 children and young people have been killed since December last year.
Nearly one million children are affected by the presence of landmines, which limit their access to essential services, and hundreds of children have been maimed or killed by exploded cluster bomblets since 1991.
There are an estimated 35,000 infant deaths every year in Iraq.
One in four children has stunted physical and intellectual development due to under-nutrition.
In 2010, 7 years after the conflict began, it was estimated that over a quarter of Iraqi children, or 3 million, suffered varying degrees of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
The life expectancy of ordinary Iraqis has gone down by two years in just over a decade.
That is a lie. The "Mission Accomplished" banner was hung on the aircraft carrier for the CREW who were returning home from the Persian Gulf after their 6 month tour. The MEDIA tried to insinuate the slogan was related to the Iraq War.
Major combat operations in Iraq have ended. In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed.
The original timeline had US soldiers largely withdrawing from Iraq by September 2003, so it seems fair to say that Bush's May 1 speech was pretty directly related to Iraq.
You're right that Bush himself didn't personally hang up that banner, but come on... the entire spectacle was one of triumph.

Bill Clinton and the Democrats had 8 long years to lift the sanctions on Iraq. Instead they chose to lie to us and told us Iraq had WMDs and would attack any day now.
If Clinton and the Democrats would have told the truth then we coulda lifted the sanctions and Bush coulda never never got support to re-start the war. Never woulda happened had Democrats not lied.
Not surprising though. Democrats never met a Muslim country they didn't like to bomb. See Somalia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Croatia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan etc... for examples.
