I don't think I have ever been to a Flea Market anywhere around the world charging taxes as it is second hand goods.
Paying taxes does not bother me anyway. I see it as a necessary "evil" of being part of society...
Now if only taxes could be paid by everyone without loopholes and tax havens that would be truly wonderful. I would be willing to pay more taxes to ensure those not paying it are made to do so.
Ringfencing some of my taxes to recoup corporations and millionaire tax cheats would be worth every penny.
Then again I am one of the "socialist/pinko/*******s/commies" who believes in society, education, infrastructure, public services such as emergency services, libraries, health care for all, a good social net and looking after people who are more disadvantaged than myself.
For example I have no kids, never go to the library and have never used emergency services or do not get any social benefits and still I am actually more than happy to pay so that others have access to those services. Go figure.
Being Middle Class I seem to pay the highests levels of taxes and the only thing which bugs me about our tax system is not how much I pay but how little other people do (if at all).
Anyone who thinks flea market vendors aren't required to pay sales tax are seriously misinformed.
Taxes: In all the states what you sell or profit you make is taxable. It is your responsibility to pay your taxes. If you are setting up at a flea market most states require that you to collect and pay sales tax to the state. Most transactions at flea markets are cash. Customers do not expect to pay sales tax there. Most vendors just pay the sales tax after sales totals for the day. However, you must check with your state tax office (they are online) for your state's requirements. Getting a sales license usually costs nothing. How to Become a Flea Market Vendor | eHow.com
And anyone who thinks all merchandise at flea markets is used/pre-owned is doubly seriously misinformed.

Really? Requirement or not, I've never been charged sales tax at a flea market.

Granted there are probably a lot of stupid sellers (and buyers) in your state, but if you think they aren't adding the tax to the purchase price, the joke's on you.
