Talk about an uppity n-word! More than a few members of this forum are openly racist and this situation always is festering in their so-called brains.

Look at all the threads that appeared calling for secession in the wake of the November elections. There is a strong "coon hound" contingent here who get their world view from the Rush Limbaugh show and wouldn't recognize an impartial source of information if it was presented to them by the ghost of Robert E. Lee himself. These people feel ever more embattled as they watch the nation become more multi-racial and see systems of belief that run counter to their owr increasingly accepted by the rest of the country.

If all this weren't bad enough, the rise of the home schooling phenomenon has resulted in the blind leading the blind. Science is the work of the devil, math can be discarded for a $2 buck calculator, and literacy is irrelevant in the current age of electronics. Ayn Rand may be the goddess of libertarians and tea party types, but try to find a right winger who can even name her books, much less has read them. And speaking of literacy, our great Southern writers such as Thomas Wolf, William Faulkner, F. Scott Fitzgerald, etc. are read everywhere else in the Country except in the South, where intelligence and education is regarded with suspicion.

All of the above results in an enclave of fanatics, fearful of change, racist in outlook, and just itching to squeeze the trigger on a government that they feel is overly represented by the Blue States. Needless to say, if the Evil Government decided to clamp down on the American people, a few drones and a contingent or two of Navy Seals would do the job, but don't try to tell Bubba that.
Bubba's a lot smarter then you think lady, and he's pretty damn good with a rifle, same military trained him the trained the rest of the military.... Your other comments on racism and the like don't even deserve a reply!!!! Other than there is more racism in the north than there is in the south.

dead serious question....

More like for every paranoid gun nut there are 1,000 naive liberals convinced in his/her superiority over everyone else. Remember the left says that 95% of the country wants gun control so there can't be that many "paranoid gun nuts" around, right?

I pretty much only think that when I read these forums. And a couple of FB posts from some deeply red states. In real life - never hear anything like it.

Most people I know are attending to their jobs, family and community just like they always have. No fear.

Yep, all 240,000 non military trained one of them. Yep, the DHS is even gonna take down the entire US Military, but don't worry, our well regulated militias will save the day.

Well you could always denounce your citizenship and find a country that has no government control so that you can live your life how you see fit.

Until some psychopath like any of the Tebaggers in Congress, or another Bush/Cheney, issues an illegal order to kill Americans, and then you will see a sea change shift in opinion, and if the extreme rightwing ever sees their Fascist fantasies come true, you won't see a Nazi Germany-like majority of the citizenry remaining silent or the military tasked with enforcing illegal orders siding with the extreme rightwing, and finally, the extreme rightwing will crawl back into their holes, and those who wish to shoot it out will get their wishes fulfilled, and good will ultimately triumph over evil.

Sadly, the possibility for a Syria-like stalemate exists if this scenario plays out, and today's extreme rightwing would undoubtedly support Assad were they living in Syria today. They are the enemy of freedom and Democracy, history has proven this.
