Yep.

This is why religion is such a destructive force in the world.

It teaches people to believe ridiculous claims with no supporting evidence whatsoever. It makes idiots out of otherwise intelligent people.

Religions don't always need a God. Some political ideology is just as destructive and is equally dependent on faith. The Keynsians come to mind.
