The 60's was even better. We still had condoned schoolyard fights and teachers were allowed to pound bullies.

Schools don't make their own rules, people. School boards do that.

We have the answer. The reason our kids are falling so far behind the rest of the world is we have stupid people trying to teach them.

Why do they call "Common Sense" common as it clearly is not.

As a 20 year public HS teacher, I can assure you that the stupidity isn't coming from the classroom. It's forced down on us from administrators and legislators who listen to "consultants." And then make those foolish notions into policies.

The result is the mess our schools have become since the NCLB act took effect.

The bad news is that it's going to get a lot worse over the next few years as this idiotic law gains more momentum with the decision makers who set the doctrine.

Two more weeks and I'm done. Not for the year, but forever. I can't wait to leave this idiocy behind me. I sincerely wish the best for my colleagues who remain behind to deal with this crap.

Oops! You forgot to add "LIKE A GUN" to the title, and I don't know if it's to late for you to add that. I think there's a limit of time within which you may edit the title and such.

Fuss over symantics the kid was holding the pencil, once thread was open it was made clear how he was holding it. In hindsight if it was changed I would say pointing a pencil.

I wonder what would happen if he pointed his finger and did gun noises.
