The CBO expects the deficit for 2013 to shrink $845 billion from a peak of $1.4 trillion. Much of the deficit is automatic stabilizers, which will rise slightly in 2013, to 2.5% of GDP due to weakness in the economy, which is caused in part by the fiscal tightening and sequestration that is occurring in calendar year 2013. Automatic stabilizers accounts for about half of the estimated deficit this year. Those stabilizers will remain at 2.5 percent of potential GDP in 2014, accounting for roughly three-quarters of the projected deficit in 2014.

After 2014, the projected effect of automatic stabilizers on the budget deficit shrinks steadily, dropping to 0.2 percent of potential GDP in 2017 and about zero in 2018. In 2018 and beyond, CBO projects that output will equal its potential, so the automatic stabilizers will have essentially no effect on the budget.
So now the spin is, cutting spending, is responsible for 1/2 of the estimated deficits, even though we arent cutting spending, we're spending more.

You dont even see how dumb that is, do you?

Another win for the Dems !!!

Baloney. Revenues are up only because everyone had to pay what they owed in taxes on April 15. Not one penny in spending has been reduced.

Exactly. He also went on about the benefits of a "sequester", but as soon as it became law and people have to wait at airports, he calls it "Obama's sequester". I wonder if he will try to reclaim some of the credit now that it is actually working.

He also said US "Debt to GDP" ratio would soon hit 900% (up from 95%), but now that the ratio has actually going in the opposite direction, he is not saying it anymore.

Haha, wait a minute, I thought it was the Republican "Congress" to blame for cutting spending.

This is why you guys are laughed at non stop...
Repubs fought the plan to raise taxes on the wealthy ... and that's where the biggest portion of the drop in the annual deficit came from!

So we now have:
  • A stock market that is soaring to new heights every day.
  • Unemployment continues to move lower ... now down to 7.5%
  • Housing prices are recovering
  • Annual Deficit that is dropping
Obama and the Dems are scoring big time on fixing the economy !!!

Laughed all the way to the voter's box to elect our leader twice you mean? Haha...

But seriously, with jobs way up, the stock market rising enough to raise interest rates and the deficit showing signs that we may be able to get in front of this, why all the anger?

It might help you to stop with the anti-American mindset and start to enjoy the turnaround we are moving into. You will be happier. If not, maybe there is a country out there that can better serve your needs.

Time to be positive and root for the good things!

Thanks!

Wow, it must take a genius to understand that those who pay taxes, actually will pay more when they start making more. Did you figure that out all by yourself?

As for the rst of the garbage, economies run in 5-7 year cycles, the crash was in 2008, under economies left alone, we'd be at the top, now preparing to fall again..

You guys moaned non stop over the last year that Republicans were stopping a recovery, now its taking place after cuts, which you guys said was going to cause a crash, and your reply is that your side gets the credit? haha, is that how it works, cry that you cant get your way, and then celebrate that your way was wrong.. what a tool

The article says "The tax haul rose sharply primarily because wages and salaries were higher"

Why do you always have to be so bitter and disrespectful?

Because you guys whined and cried for YEARS, about how a recovery couldnt happen because of a "Republican Congress", and now that its taking place, you want to take credit for it. When you start being honest, I'll stop being bitter and disrespectful.

Sorry nothing to celebrate when the reason for the reduction is the federal government taking more money from taxpayer pockets.
