Well, for starters the web site tells some lies. Here are two;

"Wont this raise my taxes?" answer "no". But we all know that is a lie. The entire purpose of the act is to raise taxes.

"Will this help my business?" answer "yes". But we know that is not true for many businesses. Businesses that collect this tax will effectively have a price increase. That does not help those businesses.

The link the OP provided is useful. Contrary to the bogus statements above, the answers provided are completely factual. The only people who will pay more in taxes than they currently provide are people who:

1. are required to pay a sales and use tax on out-of-state purchases, and
2. violate their state law by not paying that tax.

No new taxes are being imposed, and no taxes are being raised.

And of course there is a lot of misinformation with idiots like NY Times columnist Timothy Egan leading the way.

Did you even read the FAQ? I'll help you.

Question; "Will this act raise my taxes?"

Answer: "No."

That is a total boldface lie. It will increase taxes for everyone who shops on the internet.

Local stores lose sales to the internet in all the states that have a sales tax.

It is the local stores, from the big box outfits like WalMart to the small single-ower shops, that provide the taxes to their communities and states to keep things running, and they are the ones who hire folks who need jobs. The money spent in their businesses stays local.

In states that have no sales tax, nothing changes. In states that do, local goods and internet goods will cost the same. Depending on the purchase, a local business may have a slight advantage over the internet due to shipping costs.

A piece of jewelry, for example, may now cost slightly less from a local store than an internet sale, as stores order in quantity, and the shipping costs are averaged out. Internet stores, on the other hand, often charge more than what their actual shipping costs are. The internet customer things he's made a great bargain until he sees the bill for delivery.

Yes, internet sales should have to pay the same taxes as brick and mortar stores.

Yep. I am amazed peeps don't get this. First off they expect more tax rev from this. That is an increase. Second it creates a whole new category and jurisdiction called "remote" sales. This is not a minor issue. NM increased cost and management issues.
