Glenn Greenwald has a new organazation fighting the Koch agenda.

I was astounded recently on Elections forum, some people dont even know who, (or what) the Koch Brothers are.

Here is an overview of what the Koch Bros. represent:

1. In North Carolina, Kochs attempted to infiltrate school boards in Wake County, in order to "resegregate" schools.

2. The company states that it "owns a diverse group of companies involved in refining and chemicals; process and pollution control equipment and technologies; minerals; fertilizers; polymers and fibers; commodity trading and services; forest and consumer products; and ranching." The company was started in 1927 by Fred Koch, an early member of the John Birch Society. The company is led by Charles Koch and David Koch, arguably two of the leading and most influential financiers of anti-regulation and right-wing ideology in the United States.
Koch Industries is a privately-held company. It is reported to have a revenue of over $100 billion in revenue per year

3. Falsified benzene emissions:
In April 2001, the Koch Petroluem Group (now Flint Hills Resources) "pleaded guilty to a felony charge of lying to the government about its benzene emissions". A report to the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission disclosed only 1/149th of the actual benzene pollution. The company was fined $10 million and ordered to fund an additional $10 million in costs for environmental cleanup in South Texas.
The extremely profitable plant earned almost $200 million for the company in 1995, the year of the violation; the benzene emissions would have cost $7 million to control. After an environmental technician reported the false report that led to the fines, Koch Petroleum Group moved the whistle blower to an empty office with no tasks and no e-mail access. She quit a short time later

4.
Koch Industries is a long-time member and funder of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), and a long-time member of the ALEC corporate Private Enterprise board. [13]
A list of ALEC corporations can be found here.

5.
Koch Industries subsidiaries include the polymer company Invista; Koch Minerals, which handles bulk commodities; Koch Carbon which trades and transports petroleum coke, coal, cement, pulp and paper, sulfur and other commodities; the Koch Exploration Company which acquires, develops and trades petroleum and natural gas properties in the United States, Canada and Brazil; and Flint Hills Resources, which operates crude oil refineries in Alaska, Minnesota, and Texas, ethanol plants in Iowa and petrochemical plants in Illinois, Michigan and Texas.
The Koch Pipeline Company owns and operates approximately 4,000 miles of pipelines used to transport crude oil, refined petroleum products, natural gas liquids and chemicals, and the Koch Alaska Pipeline Company owns an approximate 3 percent interest in the Trans Alaska Pipeline System. Koch Industries also owns a 28% interest in the Colonial Pipeline Company which it describes as the "owner and operator of the world’s largest-volume refined products pipeline."

The Koch Supply & Trading companies "provide risk management services in crude oil; refined petroleum products; natural gas and gas liquids; gas, power and emissions; industrial metals; and other commodities and financial instruments. It also "operates an 80,000 barrel-per-day refinery in Rotterdam, the Netherlands."
Koch Fertilizer is, according to Koch's website, the world's "third-largest maker of nitrogen fertilizer," and Koch owns or has interests in fertilizer plants in the United States, Canada, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Koch Industries also owns Georgia-Pacific, which has approximately 300 manufacturing facilities across North America, South America and Europe. Georgia-Pacific facilities include pulp, paper and tissue operations, as well as gypsum plants, box plants and building products operations. Subsidiaries of Koch Agriculture Company have cattle ranching businesses in Montana, Kansas, Texas, and South America

In 2010, Koch Industries was named one of the United States' top 10 air polluters in a study released by the University of Massachusetts at Amherst’s Political Economy Research Institute

6. Tar Sands, Keystone Pipeline:

In May, 2011, Reps. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) and Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) formally requested more information from Republican leadership on the House Energy and Commerce Committee about how the project might benefit Koch Industries. They wrote:
Publicly available information indicates that the company is involved in several aspects of Canadian tar sands development. Koch’s Pine Bend Refinery in Minnesota currently processes roughly 25% of the tar sands fuel imports to the United States. Koch owns Flint Hills Resources, LLP, in Calgary, Canada, which is “among Canada’s largest crude oil purchasers, shippers and exporters.” Flint Hills Resources also operates a crude oil terminal in Hardisty, Alberta, where the Keystone XL pipeline will begin. According to the Government of Alberta, Koch Industries has both proposed and producing tar sands projects in the province. The Oil Sands Developers Group also indicates that Koch is a tar sands project developer. Koch’s Corpus Christi refinery is positioned near the end of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline and would be a potential buyer for the tar sands crude shipped through the pipeline.

Tar Sands project utilizes easements to transport oil through the US, but is exported, pipipeline is for shipping oil out of US only.

fine, but Alabama is being destroyed. And I'm not defending Soros either.
People need to research who is funding candidates. Herman Cain was a Koch creation.
They are all puppets.

And Tar Sands affects most of middle America all the way through, especially regarding the easement issue.

Easements are when the corporation has mineral rights to your land, and takes it away to transport oil to South America and Canada.
Not to mention the pollution and destruction it does to the water supply and land. As well as your property values, which will be decimated.

The Kochs are the oil and gas industry’s biggest donors to the congressional committee with oversight of the hazardous Keystone XL oil pipeline. They and their employees gave more than $300,000 to members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee in 2010 alone.

From 1998-2008, Koch-controlled foundations gave more than $196 million to organizations that favor polices that would financially enrich the two brothers. In addition, Koch Industries spent $50 million on lobbying and some $8 million in PAC contributions.

The Koch fortune has its origins in engineering contracts with
Joseph Stalin’s Soviet Union.

The Kochs are suing to take over the Cato Institute, which has accused the Kochs of attempting to destroy the group’s identity as an independent, libertarian think and align it more closely with a partisan agenda.

A Huffington Post source who was at a three-day retreat of conservative billionaires said the Koch brothers pledged to donate $60 million to defeat President Obama in 2012 and produce pledges of $40 million more from others at the retreat.

Since 2000, the Kochs have collected almost $100 million in government contracts, mostly from the Department of Defense.

Koch Industries has an annual production capacity of 2.2 billion pounds of the carcinogen formaldehyde. The company has worked to keep it from being classified as a carcinogen even though David Koch is a prostate cancer survivor.
The Koch brothers’ combined fortune of roughly $50 billion is exceeded only by that of Bill Gates in the United States.

The Senate Select Committee on Indian Affairs accused Koch Oil of scheming to steal $31 million of crude oil from Native Americans. Although the company claimed it was accidental, a former executive in this operation said Charles Koch had known about it and had responded to the overages by saying, “I want my fair share, and that’s all of it.”

So???

The only way to solve this "problem" is for Congress to stick to their jobs and stop trying to control every aspect of our lives.

Until then I say more power to anyone that can buy them off. That's their right.

Beautiful, we have a lot of crooks with money on both sides of the political spectrum. soros and buffet are partners on so many crooked scams it's sickening to see them on the news being praised until you realize the ONLY news media they have no interest in is FOX. hmmmm. Remember the election voting machines? Made in spain by soros and buffet. My cousin tried voting for Romney and it went to oduma, to which she finally had an election worker come over to reset it to no avail. This is a heavy repub county in ohio that only supposity had 10 votes for Romney. I mention these 2 scumbags that finance democratic party dimwits election after election. The Koch's are no more/no less than soros and buffet but on on the rino side. The reason this is out, you must realize, is a smear job by a soros/buffet owned media. The old look at what they are doing so you won't look at me and my lies scam.

What I am getting at is this; we need the jobs this pipeline will create. I could be working right now if it had been approved. I am fed up with the regression of the progressive left's results on jobs (and environmental claims that more times than not are proven false years later). Saving the environment is 1 thing, but conservation is the true way to do it, not the power trip ban this and that, restrict everything to control people's lives the epa nuts want. This pipeline would be a boon to our economy over all and we need that! Ever seen what happened around the Alaskian pipeline? Wildlife is healthier than ever because the warmth from the pipeline provides in extreme cold and the shade it provides in the heat of summer. I was against it until I seen the real life results it created. There is no reason the Keystone pipeline won't be not only an economic help but also an wildlife aid. It's sad that news big mouths in n.y. that think only n.y. matters have wanted to stop this important and much needed pipeline.

Yeah Canada is the largest supplier of Oil to the U.S. and they Refine it take what they need send the refined product(s) back upstream to us in Canada which we then send out to or main distribution hubs and the U.S. then sells the rest on the open market.

so why do you not like Canada and the U.S. having energy independence and he fact we get along with each other and this hurts OPEC and their control over us and being held hostage to their prices so we can pull out of the region and Opec is now forced to undercut our prices and we remember the 1973 oil embargo and we are paying OPEC back by not letting them have that type of influence over us again.

Hey, they are the ones who make it so easy. We just look at their actions and respond in tune with our belief in democracy which is the only reason America is great. They want to destroy it, so we want to subvert them. Mostly we don't want their torpedoes to be running on OUR dimes!
