My 5 gallon tank toilets didn't work all that well either.
I agree, the water efficient toliets now work fine. How many years after the mandate, did we deal with toliets that do not? That is the point! Consumers will usually choose products that save money, and actually work. Instead the government gets involved (where they should not), makes problems worse.

Technology moves on.

BTW, I still can find incandescent bulbs along with lamp oil.
Technology cannot be legislated.

Yea and people were forced to spend millions on products that didn't work because the technology did not exist, so now those same people have to spend more on a new toilet because forced technology. I still have an older toilet and it works just fine.

There are rooms in my house where I don't want a cfl in because they would be possibly knocked over and I then have to deal with mercury. What he said about the toliets are 100% true. For the longest time the government mandated, lower water restrictions and what did they accomplish? People just flushed and flushed and a product that did not work.

We have the same thing going on with cars. Much smaller gas tanks, no spare tire etc, because the government puts more regulations. Let the frickin consumer choose. When gas prices get high enough, the consumer will choose a fuel efficient car, without the idiots in government making a new law.
They miss the point, I believe technology flows along with consumer demand, not because the government legislates it. It is about freedom of choice and no one but you can make the right choice for what suits you. People will select better mileage cars if they want/need one and companies will adjust accordingly. I think low flush toilets were developed because of water shortages on the west coast, but where I live we have all of the water we need and then some, but I am forced to buy a low flush toilet, why?

Its not new. There is no longer lead in your paint...do you mix it in? or your gas? Do you add Phosphorus to your laundry detergent?

Here's a tip: If you are crapping so much that your toilet doesnt flush, take a break, flush, then resume filling.

Maybe we could give out special dispositions for 10 gallon tanks for people that crap like Elephants.

Except you have no evidence that what you just asserted is really true. It's just what you think. Studies have shown that one doesn't have to flush twice very often, which means that they save water overall.

Yes lets believes what others say about low flush toilets instead of believing what our own eyes tell us.

The problem with lemmings is that they cannot rely on their own instincts and observation because government thinks for them.

Hey ropes. Do you want a little cheese and some crackers with that vintage whine? Try joining the 21st century. The government instituted low flush toilets, lead free paint and gasoline, and all the other controls for the common good. These may limit you sacred choice to be independent but too bad. We all have to give up some choices if we are going to live on the same planet.

BTW - I have a lot of old tech in my house. Incandescent light bulbs that serve as heaters in the winter, a tube television that is over 10 years old and, indeed, a dial telephone that is not hooked up. I even have a 33 year old motorcycle (KZ1300) that is for sale.

Joining would imply choice.

Many brave people lost their lives forming this country because of limits placed on them in their home country. Why give up any of that?

You should be forced to turn in your motorcycle. Its old and outdated. It causes more pollution than current motorcycles.
You seem more the moped type anyway.

What you nanny state lovers don't get is, as gasoline, water, etc , increase, people will naturally drift to products that use less, we don't need a government mandate to tell us this, of course unless you are that stupid.
