First all, the Heritage Institute correctly points out that this dissertation is not the product of the institute, and that it is the institute's analysis of the impact that immigration reform will have on the United States that should be the focus of the debate. Rubio certainly has focused on the weaknesses of the institute's analysis, and how biased their analysis is.
Secondly, if Richwine's dissertation is an opening to any discussion, it should be a discussion on just exactly what IQ's measure and how they measure what they measure. His argument that immigrants have lower IQ's and so their offspring will have lower IQ's, is not scientifically, nor statistically valid. His assertion about a cognitive deficit is a presumption that IQ's measure cognitive ability, and only cognitive ability, which we know to be false.
It should be pointed out that the paper in question was a PhD thesis paper and based on the work in this paper, Richwine was awarded a PhD from HAVARD.
I have a sneeking suspision that the work is being mischarictorized.
Note that the Dr. Richwine was talking about hispanic immagrants and not all hispanics. Just those coming to the USA. He suggests that selection of higer IQ HISPANICS should be part of the policy change.
Looks like you also don't understand what Hispanic means. Hispanic is not a race. There is no such thing as a Hispanic race. What's the difference between Mike Honda (D-CA) and Alberto Fujimori? Both are sons of Japanese immigrants. Except, one is Asian-American while the other is an Asian Hispanic. SO what is this bull**** study referencing to, exactly, since Hispanic cannot, is not, never was, and never will be, a race?
Even if it is not a race, it still has an average IQ.
Hispanic = Spanish speaking from central & south America.
Exactly. It has nothing to do with what race you are. Hispanic is a cultural and geographical term invented by the US Census Bureau. You cannot be "genetically Hispanic"
