Many students are saved from poor parenting by outstanding educators.
And yet look at the denigration heaped upon this teacher, specifically, and teachers, generally, on this thread.

You have no idea what the history is between this teacher and student. You have no idea what he is like as a student in that class, anymore than you know what that teacher is like.

You don't considered using "b****ing" a curse word? Or perhaps you just didn't hear it.
But there is no way that you are a teacher and would stand for a student talking to you that way, let alone disrupting class that way. Totally inappropriate. Even the student acknowledged so after the fact. Frightening that grown adults do not see it.
We see it. Some of us as teachers would have handled it differently, taken it seriously on the spot. Not later, in fear for our job.

No, we do not know anything outside that video. The video says it all. Young adult has serious problem with teacher, whether or not his allegations are true, and regardless of the history. One "teacher" might behave in the manner that one did, and lost a student. Another one would have handled it in a much more positive way, creating a teachable moment. Life education that is real and worthwhile.

Now the kid has to make a rant about parents not doing their jobs, thats at the heart of it.
I'd be proud to be his parent. He recognizes that he's getting a poor education and wants something better for himself and his generation. This may not be an affluent school and hence not the top tier in terms of getting into college. He can be taught better methods of expression, but his views should be heard and taken seriously. Even the district superintendent is shown showing respect for his views. Why shouldn't you? Unless parents are home schooling, they have nothing to do with the quality of education, btw—besides seeing that their kids to their (often) boring homework.
But education in the US is progressive, not right wing.
they are handing out condoms and Plan B to kids, not bibles and guns
They teach them to sing Obama songs and help them fill out Democratic ballot slips.

Wrong. Kid has serious problem. End of story. That behavior makes him look like he's been raised in a barn.

Oh yes, quite a life education. Give an 18-year old the impression that acting out like that will be met with patience and understanding--even praise!!!--by those willing to stop what everyone is doing in order to see past his delivery and style to his supposed nuggets of wisdom. Yes, college professors and employers everywhere, to say nothing of students who are victims of such an approach, thank you for your excellent pedagogical abilities in life education.

Who knows what pushed him and what previous incidents he and his teacher had before the situation. To be fair, he could have been treated unfairly or had previous bad experiences with teachers doing the same thing. All we have seen is just this video.
Why is he wearing the same clothes in the interview that he was wearing in class??
18 year old sophomore??
Get a job loser, buy a second pair of clothes.
