I am an ageing, white, 'NamVet and informed rube that just laughs at the Republican efforts to appeal to me. The party of the REALLY RICH plutocrats and I have absolutely nothing in common. The only reason I vote Democratic is they are the lesser of the two weasels.

My political frustration is we do not have a party that is not owned and controlled by the corporate business people concerned only for their individual profit and bonuses. We really need a political party that supports the need of the middle half of the population.

Anyway, do you have a citation where a repub has said such?
Even if true, how does that justify having nobody heading the EPA, which isn't the Energy Dept.?

Republicans did the same thing when Elizabeth Warren was nominated to head the Financial Consumer Protection agency. Basically, Republicans are in the pocket of corporations who don't want any oversight.

Of course, Harry Reid never blocked any legislation just to stick it to the GOP. Pelosi never did anything of the sort during her tenure as Speaker. Here is a proposal. When the Democrats in the Senate finally pass a budget, as required by law, for the first time in almost four years now, then they can whine about parliamentary procedure until the cows come home. Until that time, just have them sit down and color.

WSJ: U.S. Solar-Panel Demand Expected to Double

The U.S. market for solar panels is likely to double in 2012, thanks to government policies and falling prices,
...
U.S. developers are likely to install about 3,300 megawatts of solar panels this year, nearly double the amount installed in 2011, according to a study released Wednesday by the Solar Energy Industries Association and GTM Research.

The global solar-power market has been turbulent for manufacturers, as prices have plunged amid an oversupply of panels. But the falling prices, as well as faster development for large-scale solar-power plants, have driven strong demand for solar equipment in the U.S., the report found.
And this:

Quote:
Traditional transmission and distribution utilities will have to deal with distributed solar power, and it won’t be a pretty fight, according to David Crane, president and chief executive of NRG Energy NRG -1.29%, a large independent power producer.

Utilities “do realize that distributed solar is a mortal threat to their business,” said Mr. Crane, speaking at The Wall Street Journal’s ECO:nomics conference on Thursday in Santa Barbara, Calif.
...
Lyndon Rive, co-founder and chief executive of SolarCity, said that “a super-majority of utilities will do whatever they can” to stop companies like his from increasing their market share. “They will create fear tactics,” he said. For utilities, said Mr. Rive, it’s very hard to get a customer back after losing the customer to a competitor, like his own company.

If you see this in the situation, that you are as brainwashed as the rest of the liberals.

I guess you could say that the Democrats have gone on record as putting junk science and environmental extremists before putting food on the tables of Americans.

You are skirting the issue. The issue is not solar or the value of alternative energy. The issue is filling vacancies.

The point is that Congress created these departments and the President has the right to nominate a department head and the Senate has the responsibility to either approve or not approve. The minority can't just hold up a nominee indefinitely. That's patently undemocratic.

You are skirting the issue. They are holding her up for lack of qualification. Can you show otherwise?

Oh, and I get a laugh how the neo-cons still cling to the one failure of Solyndra while ignoring all the successes under Obama at developing alternative energy solutions.
They don't like change. They are still trying to get back to 1950.
