2004 Antiwar Sermon Brings IRS Warning All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena risks losing its tax-exempt status because of a former rector's remarks in 2004.
Is it in the law somewhere, that states a tax exempt group cannot become a political action group? If so, I guess that is why they were warned not to continue down that road.
This lefty is opposed to the federal government singling out groups for political reasons with no reasonable suspicion of wrongdoing.
I share your thoughts on this, the ones you've written here. People should take a step-back, however, and allow the Inspector General's report to (hopefully) be made public and the IRS to provide more information as the result of follow-up questioning. Without knowing much about all of the groups whose status was questioned/investigated ... it should be clear to anyone who follows politics that tea party groups are primarily political in their actions. Such behavior/actions and expenditures may be a violation of the Code and therefore it's reasonable to investigate. Profiling is done by many agencies of government, and oftentimes for good reason. The truth of what transpired here and the reasons for actions taken will eventually be made public and there will be time to criticize or praise those actions.

They have already admitted what they did was wrong. We already know they lied about who was involved.
Between Benghazi, Fast and Furious, the IRS scandal, Black Panthers, and Reznik, this has to be the most corrupt administration in US history.
How about you guys focus on things that are actually scandals, like this, instead of being outraged by every single thing this President does and more people will pay attention. Arugula, spicy mustard, Black Panthers, Benghazi, etc... Not real scandals. Using the IRS to target political enemies... Now that has potential for big scandal.
There are real problems with this Administration, but the perpetual outrage machine has made such a big deal out everything, that people are fatigued. The general public is too tired to care anymore and that's a situation created by very people being targeted by the IRS.

The one thing RWNJs do, day in and day out, is shoot from the hip. Only the 'tip of the iceberg' has been exposed and yet the RWNJs want to bring the matter to a close. Give it time, let the facts come out. There will be more, and they will probably be worse than what the IRS apologized for. A simple apology will not suffice.
