Politics is a wonderful occupation for those who can lie and cheat but could not make it big in any other field. Gore could not have succeeded so fantastically in any other line of work.
Al Gore has done pretty well as an author. He even has respect from intelligent people in a multitude of different disciplines.
We need more smart people to not only speak up but to show the courage of their convictions and stand up to powerful forces which are attempting to marginalize intellectualism for political and financial gain.
