I've been watching this forum to see if anyone else would mention this new tax, so far no one has noticed.
The 2.3% Medical Excise Tax that began on January 1st is supposed to be “hidden” from the consumer, but it's been brought to the public’s attention by hunting and fishing store Cabela’s who have refused to hide it and are showing it as a separate line item tax on their receipts.Anyone still believe Obama didn't raise taxes on the middle class? Shown below are two sales receipts from Cabela's, and no medical devices were purchased, but the tax was still applied.
I didn't realize Cabela's CEO was a patriot; guess I'll have to check the catalog to buy some stuff to show my support. Thanks for pointing it out.
The tax only applies to medical devices. You're saying it's patriotic for a company to inappropriately collect a 2.3% tax to a pistol case and pistol grip that are not covered by a tax?

This is more likely due to the POS (point of sale) software vendor Cabelas uses. Wouldn't read into this too much but I'm guessing it won't stop conspiracy theorists but then what does?
