Why do you think that outsider's would have a negative attitude towards Detroit? What about Detroit makes it an attractive place to move to?
Detroit is a hell hole because the people that live there make it that way. Detroit's murder rate is on the level of war zone. Half the population is functionally illiterate. Its infrastructure is crumbling. Its city services are a joke. Government corruption is rampant. Huge swaths of the city are burnt out. That is the reality of the city. It's not a false perception.
Bill Clinton's NAFTA destroyed Detroit. Much of that industry went to Ciudad Juarez which has a much much higher murder rate and huge swaths of that city are burned out but it has much lower wages.
Politicians, especially the liberal politicians have sold out the American people. Destroying the manufacturing industry in the USA was deliberate.
