No, I just laugh at the hypocrisy when you claim to favor less government/less spending and then proceed to spend like drunken sailors on things that suit your agenda and grow government for the same reason.
Such as
Lower taxes
limited and accountable government
School vouchers
Sound monitory policies
A secure border
Immigration based on skill and merit and not skin color or racial quotas
State rights
A uninfringed 2nd Amendment
And lets people take responsibility and accountability for their lives, getting out of their way so the can achieve their liberty, property and purse their happiness.
Debt is Debt I dont care which party has caused it, I only care about which statesmen will fix it.
The Conservatives you are thinking of are not Conservative, they are Neo-Cons Statist light.

It's asked in another thread why people dislike unions. Here is a perfect example.
Quote:
Ed McNeil, a representative for the city's largest union, AFSCME Council 25, said the rising legacy costs are nothing new and as the city continues to privatize and reduce its workforce, it is losing funds that could have been paid back into the system.
"If you stop hiring people to pay into the system, then your money is gone," said McNeil, whose union represents about 2,000 city workers. "This is a 'set up to fail' situation."
Where does the money come from to pay these employee's to pay into the system? Detroit has no money.
A union goon admitting that the whole racket is a Ponzi scheme. Doh!
And btw, it's no different for the Social Security system; It's a Ponzi scheme too.
Lots of places are governed by liberals yet don't end up like Detroit. Was it liberal policies... or is Detroit what happens when incompetent, corrupt officials preside for decades over an unproductive, criminally inclined population?
Choose any ghetto slum, and you will have chosen a municipality run by Liberals, Left-Wingers, and/or Democrats.

How long is this emergency manager supposed to be there?
I'm sure that i heard something like 18 months or as long as the Governor keeps the city under a state of emergency.
I heard that he was kind of tentative at first, but once he got settled in, he's taken firm control.

Well, certain plants started closing because of poor sales...but they didn't really start leaving in the 50's. When i was born, there were still 12 huge plants going full speed and more supplier plants than you could shake a stick at. Plus there was Uniroyal, which had 2 large facilities with 3 shifts, Stroh's Beer, which employed a few thousand people at 3 shifts (they moved to Milwaukee when they got bought out).
The killer was Fisher Body closing. You can't even believe how large that plant is until you go there and see it for yourself. I've never seen a plant that large in my life. The buildings are still there. Murdered the whole southwest side of the city. Even the Catholic diocese shut down most of the churches on that side of the city and bailed out because they had no members left to fill the churches.
Honestly, Detroit needs to be reduced into multiple cities, towns, villages, etc. The current city should be able to choose what neighborhoods remain within the city-limits, and what goes to create a new town. The 'New Detroit' would take on the existing Detroits debt, but with a higher taxa-base from choosing their own neighborhoods, certain high-development areas, and etc. The state could take over the newly formed towns or even create tax-free zones for years in order to fuel new jobs into the area and that would also increase the tax-base. Of course 'New Detroit' and Michigan will need to take on more debt to pay for new infrastructure, but nonethless debt will eventually begin coming down.

Silliness. What happens is you funnel the socioeconomic disadvantaged into a set of towns and everyone else into others. Than you let the poor rot.
Right answer is you combine the whole economically related area into a single entity. And then the whole thing becomes viable. But that pisses of the rich white folk who moved way out to avoid the less desirable. Actually it pisses off the rich black folk too.
This however would require the authority of the State goverment which has no intention of rescuing those socioeconomic losers. ( Translates to N***** if discussed privately).
