Only YouTube can rival Yahoo when it comes to racist comments. Every news article, no matter the subject (it could be about limestone!) is littered with racist remarks. Today my blood reached boiling point when a deluge of bigoted comments were written on a story concerning Sandra Bullock's black son. A 3 year old kid for heavens sake. Here is the link:

omg! Celebrity gossip, news photos, babies, couples, hotties, and more - omg! from Yahoo!

Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon?

A lot of places, actually. My point was, why is there such a high concentration of bigots on Yahoo? It's actually disproportionate in comparison to other sites that perform similar functions. Even on posts that have nothing to do with race at all, a river of bigoted comments are written. Yes, racism is nothing new, but it doesn't mean that we shouldn't ask questions about it.

Is this little rant really a "Great Debate" topic? seriously? YO, OP, have you paid a visit to the Politics and Other Topics forum on this website? You don't have to go far to find the kind of comments that have you in a tizzie. "hotties" and gossip? Dude! (Or dudette), check our the Relationships forum.

This is the modern internet. I invite you to peruse the other forums on City Data. Could be eye-opening. Remember, people are anonymous on the 'net, so they cut loose with their darkest and most sincere thoughts. Happy touring.

This is nothing new. Yahoo has long been known as a haven for troll posters. They periodically disable the comments
section but they always seem to reappear.

Just skip the comments.

Just remember that a very large number of those racist posts are done by people pretending to be someone other than who they really are and who only do it to try to generate division and perpetuate the idea that racism is still prevalent. CD is rampant with it here.

Probably the best advice, never read the comment sections on Yahoo.

Maybe the OP should ask Yahooo.

In order words, how would we know why there are racist posters on another site?

I like never read Yahoo, which is a simple solution, I suppose.
