By your logic, Ford, GM, and Chrysler should also be banned from North Carolina.

BMW? Well they get state incentives from South Carolina. Better ban them too.

Mercedes? I think they get incentives from Alabama. Better ban them too.

Volkswagen? They get incentives from Tennessee. Better ban them too.

Come to think of it, we'd better ban Subaru, Toyota, Hyundai, and Nissan too, for the government incentives they get from the states of Indiana, Kentucky, Alabama, and Mississippi respectively.

I guess that means we're all driving AUDIs.... but wait... they're incentivized by the Mexican government.

Tesla gets FEDERAL subsidies. That is the difference.

Exactly, if you went to a Tesla showroom and seen a "stripped down" Model S (just the components without the body), there is hardly anything there. Just a big honking battery and a relatively small simple AC electric motor + transmission in the back. Tesla Model S is much simpler in design than an ICE based car. Furthermore, Tesla supports regenerative braking so the brakes will last even longer. The only real maintenance is putting windshield wiper fluid in the car every so often. BTW this is one of the reasons why GM didn't like the EV-1 either, because an electric car pretty much puts the service department out of business.

GM has an electric car.

OH so it's just Federal subsidies that matter? That's... totally meaningless. I guess you REALLY want to win this argument, huh?

Unfortunately, even by your arbitrary standards, GM was bailed out by the Federal government. Ford got $6 billion in special loans from the Department of Energy. Chrysler has been bailed out not once, but TWICE.

By your logic we'd ban these firms from selling cars in North Carolina because they are "Nazis" who don't engage in "Free Market Enterprise."

And lets not forget oil and gas subsidies, which is a whole 'nother layer of federally-granted advantages that these firms get.

They're only Nazis when they're selling a product that the poster doesn't want.

Why should any company have to compete with one that sells products that give the buyer an unfair tax credit? Take away the subsidies and credits and let them sell Teslas.
Show one motor company which doesn't rely on government for one subsidy or another.

But before we get too drawn into right-wing scandal machinery, let’s pause a moment to reflect on the ad’s central claim. Chris McDaniel, a Ford customer, explains, why he likes Ford: “I was going to buy from a manufacturer that is standing on its own. Win, lose or draw. That’s what America is about.” The thing is, Ford is not standing on its own. It has received billions in federal subsidies to keep 13 factories working, and 33,000 employees on the job in Illinois, Michigan, Ohio and Missouri. Here’s what happened:

I'm a big fan of Tesla and this is only a TINY screwing compared to what happened to them during the bailouts.

Rival company Fisker, a foreign company....gave big $$$ donations to US senators and Congressmen to get a taxpayer gauranteed loan under the guise of "green energy"....something like 400million or so. Yes, for a foreign company to make cars overseas and hurt Tesla whom is still trying to sell enough vehicles to be viable.

Read up on Fiskers guaranteed loans if you are really concerned about things like this.
A bit off-topic, but, since the loan deal was already raised, it looks like Tesla did get a loan, which they are already in a position to pay off early:

Unless you mean the consumer Tax credits (which Tesla doesn't get...), name the subsidies they are getting?

Or do you mean DoE loans...you know, with interest? Big difference.

Again, I will state, ANYONE cheering against Tesla's business model (outside of shorting it where you put your money where your mouth is, but that is a different topic all together), is purely supporting a view of "Anti-American Manufacturing." I guess you want everything researched, developed, and manufactured in the third world?
