Lawmakers made a strong statement Tuesday, passing a bill that says crimes motivated by hatred of transgender people will not be tolerated in the Silver State.
The bill already cleared the Senate and now heads to Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval.
This is a statement of what our society is, and that we will not tolerate the systematic targeting of individuals who are historically disadvantaged groups.
Hate crime bills are usually passed to be preventative.
The penalties are tougher and that is supposed to prevent crimes against a certain group. In this case transponders.
Why not just change all crime to hate crimes and that will eliminate violence altogether ?
That does seem to be the path we are taking.
