A fair question.
If I have heard something from no one else then I file it in the "MAYBE OUTRAGEOUS" file,
until I get some confirmation. Then it matters who confirms it and how.

I listen and research enough in the area, that I find many of his "outrageous" statements do get at least partial confirmation from elsewhere.
