How does anyone make a distinction as to whom is democrat or not? Can you? Are you like the OP and see democrats in the different groups you come across.

Do you have superhuman power and democrat radar? Of course you don't. Niether you nor the OP can decern whom Democrats are in your day to day life. Even if you could, that would only be such a miniscule sampling of people as to be worthless to be a basis for any claim.

It's entirely misinformed to think that the "coffeeshop hipster crowd" is the rich and elite within this country (there are not many 250k+ art school dropouts, actually), or that rich & white means liberal (look at Republican politicians).

This mentality fills some need for conservatives to feel as though their ideas are grass-roots or represent the everyday person. Both left and right receive support from both the rich and poor.

I think richer whites pretend to be liberal so as not to offend the sensibilities of those envious of their position. This while quietly supporting any mechanism that preserves their station in life.

I think richer minorities pretend to be conservative, to preserve their station in life, since they are conditionally accepted, and prone to lose that place, far easier and faster than their white counterparts.

Did I type that?

i whole heartedly endorse this excellent summary, but would change "compete against" to "look down upon with disdain, and self-hatred".

Rich libs: it's all about being accepted within their peers. Bragging rights, ie.. liberals. No entry otherwise. They also look down on those that are not rich.

The rich are not the people Obama pitted class warfare against, Obama attacked high income upper middle class people, not the rich.

When you give it feels good, inner peace, from the heart, not done so you can brag like liberal rich do.

Yes, in their own eyes their sins are absolved, yet their privileged status in unchanged.

How convenient is that?

Richer whites are not "more liberal" than poorer whites. Where did you get that idea?

Minorities are a heavily Democratic group overall (much more so than whites), but yes richer minorities are generally more conservative than poorer minorities-the same pattern with most other demographic groups.

Lol, my beliefs are irrational to you because I won't jump on your "he's racist" bandwagon. Give it a break already.
For the same reason Blacks have voted for other Democratic candidates in other elections in similar numbers.

Bill Clinton, John Kerry, Al Gore all got between 88% and 95% of the Black vote.

Your beliefs are irrational because you choose to take one election out of context and forget that Democrats have voted Majority Democratic since FDR/Truman
