I guess with no natural disaster to make worse, FEMA decided to create one of their own.

Oh and I thought we were broke?

Roundup (glyphosate) is far, far from being a highly toxic chemical unless you are a plant.

Not familiar with the area or these tree types. Have these trees any value besides making o2? Are they anything lumber is made of, or the chinese would grind up and snort?

Do those of you criticizing this action live in this area or even in California?
Dragonslayer is absolutely correct.

You make a good case for things like this to addressed locally and not through a agency based in DC using everyones money.

I have a feeling that since we had disastrous Oakland hills fire back in I think 1991 and FEMA had to come in to help after the devastation that they are aware of what needs to be addressed.

Do you have any idea how much death and destruction those fires caused? How large the prevention effort is? Maybe the prevention required is too large for the locals to handle.
I'm sure your locale can afford to prevent or recover from any disaster

By the way, there are meetings being held between the citizenry and FEMA to address this proposal.

No and thats why it is an issue for state and local guv to address. I cant keep tabs from here that my money is being spent wisely in CA. and neither can a beuracracy like FEMA that has a known record of misappropriating taxpayer monies.
