If a 'personality' or celeb endorses particular legislation, does this cause you to be become more interested? Or is there a backlash?.
If you get emails and messages from a candidate asking you to be outraged, does this engender your cooperation, or the opposite?.
Legislation for gun control is controversial. Do we want information and messages from Hollywood?
Interested in all your responses, thanks!. Lets try to discuss people who are speaking out and not just get into Obama comments, its more interesting to discuss how Public Service announcements are looked at, whether they can influence you to change your mind, etc.
If your in agreement for, then seeing these messages from these celebrities will have a positive opinion.
I don't pay attention to what any celbrity has to say, even in situations like this, because i feel so many of them are hypocrites, and more as do as we tell you, not as we do.
I think there are many people who will respond to messages like these, but just as many who will be turned off even more.
Can't say don't discuss Obama, these celebrities and their message has a direct correlation to what he is trying to accomplish. They are more or less trying to influence you with their opinion for.
I actually am turned off by it, Thanks for responding.I don't need the staff of "Mad Men" opining on what laws are good for Americans.
I agree, and imo backlash for this type of advertising will be common regarding this issue.
I should have phrased it, the thread just isnt about Obama, imo celebs should stay in their realm, and stay OUT of legislation. especially in something like this.

They, just like any other American can support any cause they wish. And we are free to ignore them or not.
Celebrities have to accept the consequences when they engage in political issues. I.E The Dixie Chicks.
Listening to a celebrity would never change my political opinion. They need to stick with what they know and quit pretending they know everything about politics. Well. Except for Bono. He could change my mind
Yesterday on C-Span they were voting on an addendum to "not report people in the newspaper' who have registered firearms. This after, the fiasco of a CT newspaper publishing every name of registered, legal gun owners.
We are supposed to trust Congress?.
The whole thing smacks of stupidity, and the public is not as stupid as the powers that be assume here. I am sick of trash media and celebs assuming we the people, should listen to their agenda.

completely agree with you here. I'm also sick of it. Most of the time, it's their egos that make them do these things, they just think they have ALL the answers, which none of them ever do.
